Episode Context

Coming off episode 17's emotionally resonant introduction of Kisa Sohma and her struggles with isolation, this episode deliberately downshifts into comedy territory while expanding the world beyond the Sohma family. Positioned roughly two-thirds through the season, it enriches the supporting cast, particularly Hanajima, before the series pivots toward the heavier emotional arcs that will define its final stretch. The character groundwork laid here pays dividends in later episodes as Tohru's circle of friends becomes increasingly important to the story's thematic core.
