The group backed into a corner where they have to make the most impossible choices feels bad. The psychological battle between Saki and the Fiend is handled with so much weight. It’s not just a fight for survival anymore, it’s a fight for the soul of their entire species.

Everyone is clearly driven by their own self-interest... because you never know when the winds of favour will change. Again, Saki's decision reinforces the fact that she does not want to lose anyone else. She genuinely would not make a good leader, given all her decisions.

Kiroumaru’s battle smarts really stand out in this episode. His intelligence helps the group a lot, and it shows how much impact a good plan can have. It took a long time to set up the final confrontation, so I’m really hoping the payoff will be worth it in the finale.
