Oshimeter
Synopsis
In a neon-lit metropolis where every district has its own climate, culture, and species, one clumsy young animal is just trying to figure out where he fits in. Fengkuang Dongwu Cheng: Dongwu Cheng Ri Yu Ye is a 4-episode ONA born from a collaboration between Disney China and Shanghai Animation Film Studio, and it serves as a tie-in to Zootopia 2 while doing its own thing. The setup is pretty simple: our protagonist stumbles through daily life in Animal City, bouncing between odd jobs, weird neighbors, and the kind of small disasters that somehow escalate into full-blown district-wide incidents. By the end of episode two, what started as a minor mishap has him tangled up in something that could upset the fragile peace between neighborhoods, and he's clearly not the hero type — which is exactly what makes it work. The tone stays warm and comedic, leaning into slice-of-life charm rather than high stakes drama. Think of it as closer to Aggretsuko's everyday-life-as-an-animal vibe than anything heavy. If you liked BNA: Brand New Animal for its world-building or Beastars for its anthropomorphic society dynamics but want something lighter and more relaxed, this fits that space nicely. The animation blends Eastern and Western styles in a way that feels genuinely fresh rather than awkward. At only four episodes, it's a low-commitment watch with a surprisingly detailed world.
