Synopsis
Once every three years, a young man named Luo Han walks out of the desert to deliver a medicine cup to his friend in the Central Plains. That's it — that's the whole tradition. Except this time, his friend Yi Lian is in deep trouble, and Luo Han's loyalty drags him straight into a mess involving stolen silver, criminal organizations, and powerful court officials who'd rather keep their secrets buried. What starts as a simple errand between friends spirals into a political conspiracy that could reshape the entire power structure of the land. This ONA is adapted from a novel, and you can feel it — the world-building has that layered quality where every faction and character seems to have their own agenda running beneath the surface. The historical Chinese setting is rendered with care by Studio 2:10 Animation, and the drama leans hard into moral grey areas. Luo Han isn't some chosen hero; he's a desert outsider who stumbled into something way bigger than himself because he wouldn't abandon a friend. If you're into the political scheming and wuxia-adjacent vibes of Mo Dao Zu Shi, or the theatrical intrigue of Thunderbolt Fantasy, this scratches a similar itch. It's got that Raven of the Inner Palace energy too — court politics where trust is currency and everyone's spending it recklessly. The tone is emotional and tense, driven more by loyalty and consequence than spectacle.
