Iris is such a likable character. It makes sense that the writers made her personality that way. It gives such a contrast to the story where everything is doom and gloom, then she give out that ray-of-hope vibe. Her dialogue with Maiya was perfect, but ahhh what a cliffhanger.

The writers did such a great job at playing with your feelings. I can't deal with that ending, especially just when we achieved some kind of character development. Then again, this is war so obviously there will be death flags everywhere but still.
