To be honest, I kinda expected Kiritsugu to do his backstory as a dialogue with someone, but I didn't expect this. It's so well portrayed. The setting and the visuals have such a stark contrast to his character now.

Every aspect of this backstory is top-tier, animation, art, dialogue, writing, and whatever else. It really explored Kiritsugu's persona in the past. Even the ending was justified without having lots of narrative on that part, you'd just get it.
