Synopsis
Picture a crew of pretty-boy fairies who own a bar, attend high school, and transform into magical warriors to fight inside art-inspired battle dimensions. Fairy Ranmaru is basically what happens when you take the magical girl formula and hand it to a group of pretty boys from fairy clans with names like Lux, Ignis, and Metallum. Ranmaru Ai and his four clanmates get sent to Earth to collect emotional energy called "attachments" by running a bar called Bar F and helping women weighed down by real, heavy stuff: online bullying, toxic relationships, the kind of pain people carry quietly. Each episode, a new client walks in, and one of the fairies dives into their emotional world to literally fight the darkness eating at them. The battle sequences take place in these surreal, painterly realms that look like someone animated a gallery exhibition, which gives the whole thing a visual identity you won't find elsewhere. Between missions, there's genuine warmth in watching these guys fumble through human life while hiding wings and clan politics. If you liked the absurd charm of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE or the gender-bending energy of Mahou Shoujo Ore, this hits a similar sweet spot: playful concept, surprisingly earnest emotional core. It's 12 episodes from Studio Comet, original story, no source material to chase down. The tonal mix of action-packed transformations and wholesome slice-of-life bonding keeps it moving without dragging. Worth a weekend if you're in the mood for something different.

bluethorn★★★★★VerifiedEP 12Okay, this last chapter was a total blast. Fights, drama, tears, revelations, plot twists, lots of guys kissing, Houjou's. Wow, it had everything. I have to admit that some answers weren't entirely satisfying; it's hard to believe a misunderstanding could have gone unresolved for so long. But overall, it was a great chapter and it pretty much tied up all the lingering questions. I'd definitely like to know more about what our fairies' lives will be like in the future. I hope something more comes out of this story, whether it's video games, an OVA, or spin-offs. I didn't expect to like this anime so much.

What a weird anime; you wouldn't expect it to have so many threads behind those guys in thongs. Oh god, the butler... This mix of drama and comedy is killing me.

Takara remains a character shrouded in mystery, and in this episode, a very harsh truth about him is revealed. It's almost unbearable to watch. The fight seems to be more about him than his client, and thankfully, it's resolved in a heartwarming way. The episode ends leaving us with even more questions than before. What the heck?
