Episodes 1-3 established the island's secret, introduced the Fafner units, and forced Kazuki into his role as pilot—episode 4 now deals with the fallout of that exposure, pivoting the series from revelation into consequence. This is still early-season foundation work, but it marks a clear escalation point where the show transitions from 'what is this world' to 'how do we survive in it.'
