EPISODE REVIEWS

The episode wastes no time pushing the psychological horror elements of the series. The way the Festum adapt and begin forcing a surreal, literal "transformation" on the battlefield is terrifying. The animation is top-notch here, using haunting visuals and sharp sound design to make the enemy feel less like standard sci-fi monsters and more like an eldritch, corrupting force that defies comprehension.

Compared to the previous episodes, this one is much quieter, but I actually welcomed the slower pace. The characters finally get a little time to breathe, even if it doesn't really last. I also enjoyed seeing everyone slowly adjust to their new reality instead of magically accepting everything overnight. That's one thing I think Fafner consistently does better than most series.

Despite their warning about the usage of the mechs, the side effects are REAL. Interesting how they spend an entire episode for this. I thought we were going straight into battle but we got a breather instead. Unfortunately, while chill for me, it wasn't for them. But there's two episodes left so.. not good.
