In this episode, we learn more about Minami's past since the focus is on her. But it's hard to take the emotional scenes seriously when the animation fails to show the characters' facial expressions properly.
The facial expressions being awkwardly shown is ALSO costing this series. There's a scene here where Minami's supposed to be all emotional but because the faces are stiff, it almost looks like she's smiling instead in a tense situation. It doesn't really help anything.
As with all the other episodes, the story beats are good but the animation is just not up to it. I wouldn't mind the stiffness and poor battle choreography if the models had any emotion at all. Other than that, it's nice having some backstory for Minami, she was very bland for the amount of screentime she has.
