Eternal Alice Episode 1: Episode 1

My mixed reaction to the first episode is that the plot isn't very clear. It has a slow start, and it takes a while to build a pace that makes you want to keep watching the anime. It's not great, but it's not bad either.

This first episode lays out the basis for the plot quite well. I love how we get to see Alice Seekers do their work, and the ensuing fight, but how it all works makes me curious. How is a series of books able to produce this kind of outcome, what kind of world do we actually have here, and how did it involve Aruto in the way that he is able to? I'd love to see more!

First episodes always set the mood, and this one does exactly that, but with a mysterious charm. The pacing is a bit slow at the start, but it builds up later. I enjoyed the overall atmospheric vibe. The animation during the first combat sequence looked pretty fluid for its time. The subject matter felt interesting to me.
