Episode eighteen is a philosophically packed one, Raul acts as a "Deus ex machina" figure believing humans have no need for gods, I would believe Daedalus agrees but his obsession with the Proxy poses him as someone who want's to understand and harness their divine nature. They're the seeds for a story of humanity against gods.

Episode Context

Positioned at episode 18 of 23, this lands squarely in Ergo Proxy's endgame buildup. It follows the unsettling revelations of 'Terra Incognita' and channels that momentum inward, forcing Vincent to confront his origins at Mosk before the series can push toward its final confrontations. The character groundwork laid here directly feeds the climactic revelations and identity crises that define the remaining five episodes.
