Ikebukuro, a place full of mysteries, known for previous violence with colored gangs, many infamous individuals and even a supernatural urban legend. Durarara starts with Mikado stepping into a new city that can easily become the stage for a story capable to move a person’s life.
This episode is great and can hook viewers as it present introduction for the characters to be noted throughout the series. The pacing is also good and allows one to breath, like the main character.
As a fan of Narita Ryogo who likes his previous work, Baccano, it's a treat to see Durarara!! came to life. But the introductions here are a bit expository from Kida instead of showing the characters. I prefer the introduction to the headless rider than the rest of the cast.
