That arm regrowing on Piccolo was absolutely nasty and I love how cold he is to poor Gohan after Goku died

Vaporizing that entire mountain top by accident really shows why Piccolo is so obsessed with training Gohan, because the kid has way more power than he can even control right now

I am still reeling from Goku being gone but King Yemma is massive and seeing that long line of souls was a cool way to show how the afterlife works

Piccolo telling Gohan he won't grow up to be anything if they lose to the Saiyans was such a harsh reality check for a kid who just wants to be a doctor

Gohan crying in the woods made me feel so bad for him and Piccolo is being such a jerk but he is right about the threat coming in a year

The shift in tone now that the fight is over and we get to see the afterlife stuff with King Yemma was something I really liked and even if it feels like a lot of filler the way the afterlife looks is actually pretty great, and seeing Goku start that long run on Snake Way makes the scale feel huge even if the dub distance is way off

Krillin being the one who has to tell Chi-Chi that her husband is dead and her son was kidnapped is the most terrifying mission in the entire show so far

The scale of the afterlife is so much bigger than I thought and Goku running on that giant snake looks like it will take forever

Chi-Chi having a nightmare about Roshi training Gohan in the ocean was funny but the actual training Piccolo has planned looks way more terrifying

I honestly felt so stressed for Krillin when he was trying to figure out how to talk to Chi-Chi, because she is going to absolutely lose it when she finds out Goku is dead. Piccolo throwing Gohan at a literal mountain was such a brutal way to train him, but that energy blast showed why he is doing it.

Piccolo taking Gohan to train him feels like a massive shift for his character and that mountain blast was crazy

It is so weird seeing Piccolo become a teacher after he spent the whole last series trying to kill everyone and now he is just kidnapping Gohan to save the world while Goku is stuck running on a giant stone snake in the middle of nowhere for a year and Chi Chi is at home worrying about Gohan becoming a karate bum

I felt a huge rush when Gohan vaporized that mountain, because it proves Piccolo was right about him being the strongest one left on the planet

Gohan saying he wants to be an orthopedist is so cute, but Piccolo basically telling him he will be dead before that happens is just cold

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 6 marks the definitive transition from the Raditz confrontation into the Saiyan Saga's training phase, splitting the narrative between Goku's otherworldly journey toward King Kai and Piccolo's harsh mentorship of Gohan. It directly follows the fallout of Raditz's defeat and establishes the dual training arcs that will define the next stretch of episodes before the remaining Saiyan warriors arrive on Earth. Everything here is foundational — the urgency set up now pays off significantly once Vegeta and Nappa enter the picture.
