Goku trying to bribe the Old Kai with Bulma was the weirdest thing he has ever done, and you cannot believe Vegeta did not punch him right then because it felt so out of character

I am actually losing it because how did Kid Buu just learn Instant Transmission by looking at it once and that move is just too much so now nowhere in the galaxy is safe from him

Vegeta was right to be mad at Goku for saving a dog and Mr Satan instead of their own kids and seeing Gohan and the others get left behind like that was just cold

Mr. Satan really had me questioning reality when he called the Supreme Kai a "purple leprechaun" while our planet was literally gone, and then he thought he could just fly away like it was nothing. It’s wild how his denial is so strong it provides comic relief in the most terrifying situations, but honestly, it just made me feel so helpless about the whole nightmare.

My stomach turned when Buu showed up in the afterlife to kill people who are already dead and Krillin cannot even rest in peace without this pink monster trying to erase his entire existence

the animation in this one is definitely rough and Yamcha having a halo while fighting Buu in the afterlife was a weird mistake and Uchiyama really dropped the ball on the character models this time

The Supreme Kais are basically spectators at this point and it is funny how the literal gods of the universe are just hiding while two saiyans do all the heavy lifting

I really felt for Vegeta when he was chewing out Goku for saving Dende and Satan instead of their own kids, because it was a heavy moment. Then Goku goes and offers up Bulma to Old Kai like it is nothing and I was dying. Those two finally standing their ground on the Kai planet without fusion is the best way to end this

I still cant believe Vegeta smashed that earring and he was so mad about Bulma too and now they are finally going at it as true saiyans standing their ground on the kai planet without fusion

Watching Kid Buu just teleport around and nuking every planet he sees was terrifying and I think Goku and Vegeta flaring their power to draw him in was the best way to handle it

I honestly couldn't believe Goku just casually offered Bulma to the Old Kai like that, it was such a classic Goku move but still, totally messed up. Vegeta's pure rage face was everything though, I totally get why he was so mad, especially considering how far he's come with Bulma and how protective he is deep down.

Oh man, I totally get why Vegeta was fuming at Goku for that bribe; like, seriously, Bulma is his wife and Goku is just out here being a complete goofball, trying to get a favor from a Kai. It made me wonder if Goku even registered how messed up that was, or if he just genuinely thought it was a genius plan.

Buu just hopping from planet to planet, blowing them up for absolutely no reason, really got to me. It's so unsettling to watch; I keep thinking, how do you even stop a force of nature that doesn't care about conquest or power, just pure, mindless destruction?

When the Earth just vanished into dust, I felt this awful, cold dread wash over me, completely convinced everyone was truly gone this time; it was such a powerful sense of finality. Then, Dende's quiet mention of the Namekian Dragon Balls hit me with such a wild wave of hope, making me gasp and think, "Wait, there's actually a chance?" That sudden turn from utter despair to possibility was such a classic DBZ move, and I was so ready for it.

Ugh, I couldn't believe how rough some of the animation was in this episode, especially during such a critical moment for Goku and Vegeta; it honestly just took me out of the intense build-up. Still, seeing them finally decide to throw down on their own terms, fueled purely by their rivalry, just reminded me why I've always loved their dynamic, even if it wasn't the prettiest fight.

I gotta say, I was completely baffled when Goku admitted he could've just ended things with Super Saiyan 3 way earlier but decided not to so the kids could get a shot. Like, what even is that logic when the entire planet is already gone? It made me wonder what his real motivation was there, because it certainly wasn't protecting the Earth at-risk population.

When Buu just started eating the ground and laughing like that, my stomach dropped. It’s like he wasn't just destroying things because he could, but truly savoring every single bite of that terror, which felt way more evil than any Frieza or Cell ever managed.

I felt kinda bad seeing Yamcha and Krillin getting bodied even in the afterlife, like, when do these guys ever get a real win? It was still sick to see Pikkon again, but man, the animation for that whole fight was super rough and kinda pulled me out of it.

I was honestly shocked when Goku and Vegeta just crushed those Potara earrings, like, seriously? They'd really rather risk everything than be stuck together forever as Vegito, even if it meant saving the whole universe. It makes me wonder if their pride was just too much to handle, or if they just really value their individual selves that much, you know?

I can't believe Goku seriously tried to pawn off Bulma to Master Roshi for the Dragon Balls; that man is just absolutely clueless sometimes, even when the world's at stake! Honestly, Vegeta's absolutely epic freak-out was the best part, it makes me wonder if he's actually got a soft spot for her, which would be wild.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 278 sits deep in the Buu Saga's final stretch, where Earth's strongest warriors are making their last stand against the ultimate version of Majin Buu. The preceding episodes have been escalating the stakes to existential levels, with fusion strategies and desperate power-ups defining the battle. This episode appears to mark a pivotal character moment — likely a shift back toward individual combat philosophy — setting the stage for the saga's concluding battles across the final thirteen episodes.
