Coming off Goku's extended training under King Kai, this episode marks the definitive end of the preparation phase and the beginning of the end for the pre-battle buildup. Everything since Raditz's defeat has been leading to the Saiyan arrival, and 'Counting Down' is the final bridge before that confrontation erupts in the next episode, 'The Darkest Day,' where the fight for Earth's survival truly begins.
