Episode Context

Episode 20 sits firmly in the King Kai training arc, following Goku's successful capture of Bubbles in the previous episode and escalating his preparation against the approaching Saiyan threat. The Saiyan backstory introduced here becomes foundational context for everything that follows when Vegeta and Nappa arrive. This episode directly sets up Goku's next major milestone, learning the Kaio-ken technique, bridging the gap between basic training challenges and the power-ups he'll need to survive.
