The rules about the dragon balls not being able to bring Goku back twice really makes this feel like a permanent goodbye and it makes the atmosphere so heavy

Goku, always selfless, waving goodbye with that huge grin and a halo just makes me feel so many things, you know? It's like even in death he's still just chilling, ready for whatever's next, and honestly, that’s just so him. It really reminds me of his sacrifice against Cell, but this time it feels more like a new beginning for him than an ending.

Vegeta actually showing respect for Goku after the sacrifice is a huge deal for his character even if he tries to play it cool like usual

Piccolo talking to Gohan about Goku's choice was actually a very sweet moment, and it shows how much he has changed since the start of the series

Watching Mr Satan take credit for Gohan beating Cell while the media eats it up is the most annoying part of this whole episode

Goku says he is the reason villains keep attacking Earth so he chooses to stay in the afterlife and train instead of going home to his family

Goku looked so happy when he was talking from the other world, and seeing him content with his choice makes the ending of the Cell arc feel very complete

That choice Goku made, to stay and train instead of coming back to his family, really got to me. I understand his drive to get stronger, but seeing how it crushed Chi-Chi and Gohan just makes me question if even a world-saver's dedication should come at such a cost to his loved ones.

I can't believe Goku is just going to stay dead like that and leave Gohan alone after everything they went through with Cell

I feel so bad for Gohan because he finally got the win and now his dad is just staying in the clouds to fight strong guys forever and it makes sense that Goku thinks he draws in the bad guys but it still hurts to see him smiling while everyone else is crying over the dragon balls not working

I honestly felt so much frustration when Goku gave that speech about being a magnet for villains and staying dead because he could have just used his brain and come home to his son instead Gohan did all that fighting and now he has to grow up without a dad and it just feels like Goku is being totally selfish here

I am still so mad at Goku for that stupid excuse about being a trouble magnet, he just wants to fight strong guys in heaven and leave his family behind

Gohan deserves better than having to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders while his dad is just hanging out in the other world

Goku literally has a chance to come back to life and says no because he wants to go fight dead guys and it makes him look like a jerk

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned near the tail end of the Cell Saga, episode 192 follows the climactic battle against Cell and deals directly with its consequences, making it a critical bridge episode. The emotional and narrative fallout from the preceding fights sets the stage here, as Goku's decision carries implications that ripple into the transition toward the Buu Saga. This episode effectively closes one chapter of Dragon Ball Z while laying the groundwork for the series' next major era.
