you can really feel the gravity hitting Goku when he lands on that tiny planet, and his face just gets slammed into the dirt

it is kind of weird that Goku's old spaceship can just project a moon like that out of nowhere and Piccolo had to blow up the pod to stop Gohan

Piccolo ripping that kids tail off right after the ape rampage shows he has zero patience for risks

I really did not like that filler stuff with the spaceship and the holographic moon because it felt like they were just dragging things out for no reason

Goku thinking that monkey was King Kai made me laugh way too hard and then he actually started copying his little dance

It feels so good that Goku is off that path and even though King Kai is a weirdo for making him tell a joke it fits him so well

Goku bowing and hooting to a monkey because he thought it was the king of the afterlife has to be the funniest thing in the saiyan saga so far and King Kai's expression was perfect

That nightmare Gohan had about Raditz was way darker than the rest of the show and it really set the tone for how much pressure this poor kid is under while his dad is away

The revelation that the spaceship was actually projecting a fake moon to trigger Gohan was a clever way to bring back the transformation, and it highlighted how dangerous Saiyan biology is when Piccolo had to make that quick call to destroy the pod and save the whole region from being leveled by that massive screaming monkey

I finally felt a sense of progress when Goku reached the end of the path and the way he just fell flat on his face from the gravity was a perfect reality check for his power

King Kai asking for a joke before he even starts training Goku is such a bizarre twist and seeing the strongest fighter on Earth struggle to think of a pun was hilarious

My heart actually broke seeing Gohan cry for his dad in the middle of the night, but Piccolo stepping in to stop the transformation showed how much he is actually starting to care

It felt like Snake Way would never end and finally seeing Goku touch down on that tiny planet was the best kind of relief especially with the gravity making him look so ridiculous

The way Gohan transformed again was genuinely scary for a second and Piccolo looked totally overwhelmed trying to figure out where that pulsing light was coming from

I cannot believe the moon was actually just a projection from the old space pod and watching Piccolo blast it felt like such a huge weight off Gohan even if he lost his tail again

Goku chasing that monkey around while he was trying to be respectful made the whole wait for King Kai worth it and seeing him realize his mistake was hilarious

It took forever to finish Snake Way, but seeing Goku land on King Kai's planet makes the wait for the master feel worth it.

It is so weird that Goku spent months running just to find out he has to tell a joke to a blue guy with antennas, which is such a bizarre twist after the intensity of Gohan going on a rampage in the mountains. Seeing Piccolo handle the Great Ape form shows how much he is starting to actually watch over the kid.

That holographic moon staying in the sky even though the real one is gone felt like a crazy trap for Gohan

Watching Goku hop around like a monkey for no reason because he thought the pet was the master was hilarious and kind of embarrassing

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 18 of 291 closes out the Snake Way stretch that has defined much of Goku's early arc, arriving just after 'Pendulum Room Peril' demonstrated how outmatched Earth's fighters truly are against the incoming Saiyans. This episode bridges the gap between Goku's journey and his actual training, directly setting up 'Defying Gravity,' where the real preparation under King Kai begins in earnest. It's a pivotal transition point — the buildup phase is ending and the serious power escalation is about to start.
