Vegeta pushing himself to 400 times gravity just to catch up to Goku is the most intense thing and seeing him nearly blow himself up in that room was terrifying

I was surprised how much Bulma actually cares if Vegeta lives or dies while he just yells at her for being in the way during his training

Yamcha nearly dying in the gravity room while Vegeta just tanks it is the funniest thing this show has done in a while and he really needs to stop trying so hard

Bulma suggested just finding Dr Gero and stopping him now, but Goku and the others are too obsessed with fighting to actually use their heads

Piccolo and Gohan training together again, and seeing their bond continue like this while everyone gets ready for the androids made the episode feel special

I think Bulma is the only person on this planet with a brain because Goku and the others letting Gero finish the androids is actually insane behavior

King Vegeta mentioning the low level babies being sent off to distant worlds is a cool bit of lore, and it makes the universe feel a lot bigger than just the guys on Earth

Vegeta struggling under that 300x gravity until he started seeing hallucinations of Trunks as a Super Saiyan was such a visceral way to handle his training arc and his pride

Poor Yamcha trying and failing to do even a second of gravity training is exactly what you expect from him at this point and it makes the power gap feel kind of depressing
jonathan_joestar_196's avatar
jonathan_joestar_196
I think this is some of the best filler the show has done because it actually gives Vegeta some depth instead of just having him stand around on a cliff waiting for the androids

It is wild that Vegeta would rather let a training capsule explode on him than admit he needs a break from that 300x gravity and he looks genuinely terrified in his sleep

That nightmare sequence with Super Saiyan Goku wearing his Namek clothes while mocking Vegeta was really creepy and perfectly captures how much of a mental block Goku has become for him

That flashback to the King talking about sending the weak babies away got me thinking about whether there are more Saiyans just hiding out on random planets right now

Watching Vegeta push himself until the training room literally blew up was intense, and it makes his obsession with catching up to Goku feel so much more desperate. That nightmare where Trunks and Goku were laughing at him was such a dark way to show his mental state, especially since he still hasn't figured out how to transform yet

Seeing Yamcha nearly get crushed by the 300x gravity was actually funny because it just shows he is not built like the Saiyans

I felt so bad for Vegeta when he was coughing up blood in that 300x gravity room and seeing Goku in his dreams as a Super Saiyan really shows how much he is hurting

You have to laugh at Yamcha thinking he could just stroll into that gravity chamber only to get pinned to the floor village

Watching Vegeta nearly blow himself up in that spaceship shows how far he will go just to catch up to Goku village

The drawing of Goku and Trunks stood out because the art was way sharper than what we usually see in these episodes village

That flashback with the baby pods really got me thinking because King Vegeta basically admitted that Goku was considered a lower class reject

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 124 of 291, this falls in the stretch leading into or within the Android/Cell Saga, a period where the Z Fighters are bracing for threats foretold by Future Trunks. This filler installment pads the gap between major canon developments, offering training and preparation content that doesn't advance the core storyline. Skipping ahead to the next canon episode will connect directly back to the saga's escalating tension without any continuity loss.
