Watching that black mist finally dissolve once Kami released the sacred water made the whole atmosphere of the show feel way lighter again

I am so hyped on Gohan leading the charge against the spice boys because he looks like a completely different fighter than he was on Namek

Even though some people skip this arc because it is filler, I think Gohan looks like a total beast taking on Garlic Jr and his henchmen alone. He has so much weight on his shoulders with Goku gone, and seeing him unleash that power to protect his family makes me really respect how much he has changed lately

Piccolo and Krillin totally played Garlic Jr and seeing that little demon lose his mind when he realized they were faking the whole time was hilarious

It hurt me to see Piccolo fading away like that during the fight and I hope Kami can get that water released before things get even worse for the guys fighting Garlic Jr

Wait so is there a difference between the Sacred Water and the Ultra Divine Water and they really made it confusing with all these different names for magical drinks in one episode

I liked seeing the world go back to normal and those people finally stopping their demonic rampaging because that mist stuff was actually pretty creepy for a filler arc

That ending with Master Roshi is such a cliffhanger, and it seems like things are about to get weird even if this whole icy maze plot with Goku is dragging the pace down

Garlic Jr is being such a total menace but seeing Piccolo jump in and kick him right in the face to save Gohan was so satisfying even if Piccolo is totally exhausted

The way Garlic Jr just heals up after Gohan stabbed him is so annoying and it makes the fight feel like it is never going to end since he is actually immortal

Gohan carries this show sometimes and seeing him blast Garlic Jr into the Dead Zone with that massive Masenko was the best thing he has done since Namek Saga ended

I really thought Gohan had him when he did that impaling move and then Piccolo jumped in to kick Garlic Jr in the face and it was so cool to see them working together

The Dead Zone coming back because Garlic Jr was losing control felt like a huge moment. It is pretty rare to see Gohan and Piccolo have to handle everything without any help from the main Saiyans. Having the world actually start to wake up from that mist, while Garlic Jr gets desperate, was a really cool visual.

Even though this arc is filler, the teamwork between Krillin and Piccolo was great to see while they bought time for Kami.

Watching an immortal guy get pressured by a kid is wild and he really shows off his potential here

I honestly hate that we are wasting time on filler while Goku is gone and it makes the pacing feel slow

Piccolo and Krillin carrying the weight while the heavy hitters are gone is actually a great change of pace

EPISODE CONTEXT

Falling deep within the anime-original Garlic Jr. Saga, this episode follows 'Extreme Measures,' where the Z Fighters hit significant roadblocks in their battle. 'The World Awakens' escalates the conflict to a critical turning point, directly setting up the next episode, 'Brief Chance for Victory,' where the showdown approaches its climax. As a filler arc bridging the Frieza and Android sagas, this stretch is entirely skippable for manga-only viewers but serves as additional character showcase material for Gohan and the supporting cast.
