Piccolo looks so strong after merging with Kami and seeing him actually keep up with 17 is wild. That Hellzone Grenade move is easily the smartest thing any fighter has done in a long time

The lookout always feels like a safe place so seeing it get corrupted by the black water mist makes the whole atmosphere of this episode feel incredibly claustrophobic and dangerous for Krillin

Gohan killing those demons without a second thought was a huge surprise, and it really shows how much his time on Namek changed his fighting spirit

The way Piccolo just keeps coming at Gohan without any mercy makes the tension so high because you know Gohan is holding back while his mentor is trying to actually kill him

I find it hard to get invested in the spice boys as villains but Piccolo being a bad guy again is keeping me interested enough to see how they fix the lookout

My heart broke for Kami and Mr Popo being stuck in that situation while the mist takes over the lookout and seeing them get sidelined like that makes Garlic Jr feel like a real threat

This arc gets a lot of hate for being filler, but watching Gohan step up while Goku is away is actually pretty cool. The danger feels different when you know the heavy hitters aren't coming to help. Seeing Piccolo turn into a mindless monster under the mist was such a shock after how much he changed during the Frieza saga

The contrast between Gohan fighting for his life and Yajirobe just looking at bikini magazines on the lookout is honestly pretty funny

It feels weird watching a whole arc without Goku or Vegeta around but at least Krillin and Gohan get to do something besides wait for the saiyans to show up and save the day

I was actually shocked when Gohan just started blasting those spice boys into dust because he usually hesitates so much but he is clearly not playing around during this Garlic Jr mess

Watching Piccolo go full villain mode under that mist is so intense after everything he went through on Namek and Gohan looks so conflicted having to defend himself against his own teacher

Even though this is filler, seeing Krillin jump in front of a blast to protect Gohan reminded me why he is the best friend in the series.

Having the battle happen at the Lookout makes everything feel so much more desperate and the fact that Kami and Mr Popo are stuck is terrifying

I was not expecting Gohan to just finish off those henchmen like that and his Masenko looked so much more powerful than usual during that outburst

Watching Piccolo act all mindless and violent is so stressful especially because Gohan is clearly struggling with having to fight his own mentor and friend

It is actually kind of refreshing to have a story where Goku is not just showing up to save the day immediately, and I like that Gohan is forced to step up even if seeing Piccolo under that mist is super weird. Watching Gohan completely lose it after Krillin got blasted and taking out Zard and Tard was the highlight for sure.

The way Gohan just deleted those two henchmen after seeing Krillin get hurt shows why you should never mess with that kid and his friends

Garlic Jr is such a creep for holding Kami hostage and seeing the Lookout turned into a war zone is a really cool change of pace for this series

I really like that the show is letting Gohan and Krillin handle things at the Lookout while Goku is away and the stakes feel way higher with Kami being trapped

Krillin taking that hit for Gohan was brutal but seeing Gohan finally snap and taking out those two goons with that Masenko felt so satisfying

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned in the middle of the anime-original Garlic Jr. saga — a filler arc bridging the Frieza and Android sagas — this episode follows directly from the chaos unleashed by the Black Water Mist at Kami's Lookout. It escalates the conflict established in the previous episode and sets up the resolution phase, leading into 'Call for Restoration' where the heroes attempt to reverse the damage and end Garlic Jr.'s threat for good.
