Coming off Krillin's elimination in episode 99, the tournament's stakes feel immediately sharper as Universe 7 loses its first fighter, and the narrative pivots to the Universe 6 Saiyans stepping up against Goku. This episode serves as a critical showcase for Caulifla and especially Kale, establishing power dynamics that will ripple through the arc's remaining thirty-plus episodes. It directly sets the stage for episode 101, where the Pride Troopers escalate their offensive, pushing the tournament into an even more chaotic phase.
