Episode Context

Dragon Ball Super opens on a deliberately split tone. Son Goku tends a peaceful farm and trades easy comedy with Son Goten, while brief training imagery keeps his drive to improve in view. Mr. Satan's public heroism supplies broad humor on the human side. Against that calm, Beerus and Whis carry an unsettling charge: scale, appetite, impatience, and the weight of divine power. Kaio and Elder Kai react with anxiety that frames the danger without explaining it. The pacing is brisk and introductory rather than battle-focused, spending its time establishing a quiet Earth and a restless Goku before any real confrontation. This is a canon premiere built on setup and mood, not action payoff, and it introduces the season's central threat.
