READTHROUGH
The Bargain Struck in Hole
Under the dreary, rain-soaked skies of Hole, Professor Kasukabe observes the grim disposal of a sorcerer's corpse. He sees Ai Coleman, a young man with a haunting intensity, watching the burning with him. Kasukabe senses a kindred, dark curiosity, a desperation to escape the brutal reality of their world. He eventually offers Ai a ride, despite dismissing the boy's fervent desire to become a sorcerer, citing his research as academic, not transformative. This initial encounter sets the stage for a partnership born of shared secrets and dangerous ambitions.
Kasukabe's Secret Ward
At Kasukabe's hidden clinic, Ai discovers the doctor's true obsession: a macabre collection of sorcerer bodies preserved in glowing liquids. Kasukabe explains his quest began when his sorceress wife fell ill, driving him to study magic's effects on the human body. He uses these grotesque specimens to understand transformations and find cures, a mission Ai listens to intently. The display only hardens Ai's resolve to transcend his human form, seeing these forbidden studies not as a warning, but as a map.
Assistant to the Damned
A year passes, and Ai has become Kasukabe's dedicated assistant, witnessing the endless parade of magically maimed patients. He helps Kasukabe patch together broken lives, his white lab coat often stained with blood. Despite the horrors he sees, Ai's yearning for magic remains undimmed, only growing stronger. Sharing a simple meal on the clinic roof, Kasukabe questions Ai's desperation, to which Ai responds plainly that he is tired of being "prey." Kasukabe senses the coming disaster, a storm building in the boy's quiet resolve.
The Desperate Offer
Kasukabe and Ai find themselves at a toxic lake, a dumping ground for the town's refuse and sorcerer remains. When a sorcerer is thrown into the black, corrosive liquid, Ai leaps in without hesitation. He resurfaces, blistered and melting, but clutching a small object: a piece of sorcerer's remains. Back at the clinic, Ai, barely conscious from his agonizing chemical burns, pushes a notebook into Kasukabe's hand. It contains his own research, a blueprint for a radical surgery, begging Kasukabe to implant sorcerer organs into him. Ai's fanatical gaze compels Kasukabe to consider the impossible.
The Surgeon's Madness
Under the sterile glare of the clinic lights, Kasukabe performs the impossible surgery. His hands tremble as he stitches human and sorcerer tissue, the hum of the heart monitor the only sound. He questions his own sanity, working from Ai's grotesque plans, blurring the line between medicine and sheer madness. Days later, Ai miraculously awakens, heavily bandaged, claiming rebirth. But the miracle is fleeting; Kasukabe later finds Ai's iconic 8-ball cap in a pool of blood, then his body discarded in a ditch. The experiment, it seems, has ended in total failure.
Ai's Lingering Shadow
In the present, Kasukabe continues to delve into Ai Coleman's records. He shares his findings with Nikaido, Kaiman, and Natsuki at a diner, connecting Ai to the mysterious doll model they encountered. This revelation suggests Ai's consciousness may persist in the Sorcerer's World, a chilling thought. The group realizes that unraveling Ai's fate is crucial to understanding Kaiman's own lost identity. Their path forward now involves a perilous journey into the very world Ai so desperately sought.
Ebisu's Homecoming
Ebisu navigates the grimy subway tunnels of the Sorcerer's World, returning home after her long, traumatic absence. Fujita accompanies her, a cautious guardian. Ebisu's erratic behavior hints at her fractured state, her skull mask a familiar, unsettling presence. They encounter Oda, an intimidating sorcerer from Ebisu's past, who questions her return. Ebisu avoids his probing questions, her focus on reaching her family mansion. The opulent home stands in stark contrast to her recent experiences, a potential sanctuary that, for the viewer, feels more like a trap.
The Stolen Face
At her family mansion, Ebisu's hope shatters as a girl identical to her opens the door. This imposter, wearing a pink plush sheep hat, claims to be the daughter of the house, her eyes vacant and unsettling. Ebisu is consumed by shock and fury, screaming her rightful name, but the imposter merely smiles, inviting her in as a stranger. A terrified maid, Maya, pulls Ebisu aside, confirming the dreadful truth: the imposter took Ebisu's place, enchanting her grieving parents. Realizing her parents are gone, likely driven out or worse, Ebisu's fury explodes. She confronts the imposter, who sheds her skin to reveal a monstrous, dinosaur-like creature. A brutal fight ensues, Ebisu using her scythes to reclaim her identity with a blood-soaked roar of her name.
Kitchen Diplomacy
Back at En's sprawling estate, Kaiman and Nikaido work alongside En's crew in the vast industrial kitchen. The atmosphere is surprisingly lighthearted, a stark contrast to their usual existence. They joke and share stories with Natsuki and other subordinates returning from a mission. Kaiman appears to be finding an unexpected sense of belonging within this strange, powerful family, even as his ultimate goal of discovering his past remains central. This domesticity highlights the unusual dynamic at En's estate.
Water and Reflection
The group unwinds in En's luxurious, magma-filled bathhouse. Kaiman relaxes in the steaming, red-tinged water, his thoughts drifting to his missing memories and the cross-eyes he once bore. A sense of unease lingers; he worries he might be growing too comfortable in the world of his enemies. Nikaido and Natsuki playfully splash each other, their laughter echoing, creating a surreal and dreamlike atmosphere. Kaiman stares at his reflection in the water, still searching for the face he lost, a poignant moment of self-doubt amidst the camaraderie.
A Toast to Chaos
A celebratory dinner concludes the day, with a massive spread of food and plenty of sake. Kaiman and Natsuki engage in a friendly drinking contest, while Nikaido watches them with a warm but slightly worried expression. They toast to their survival and their future plans, a genuine camaraderie blossoming between them despite the constant looming conflicts. The scene ends with their laughter, a fragile moment of peace in their chaotic lives, but the audience knows it cannot last.
The Shrouded Chaos
A final title card appears, summarizing the episode's key revelations: Ai Coleman's past as a human seeking magic, Ebisu's elite background and her brutal fight for identity, and the growing bonds between Kaiman and Nikaido. A voiceover teases that the mystery is still "shrouded in chaos," a fitting end to an episode filled with desperation, stolen identities, and uncertain alliances. The screen fades, leaving the audience to ponder the entangled fates of these disparate characters.
EPISODE REVIEWS

Just when we are starting to learn more about Hole, we are moving forward to the Sorcerer world which is equally freaky. There are hell and devil already being shown in this episode, so can't predict what will appear next. PS another new ED for this anime.

They finally enter the sorcerers’ world, and everything feels strange but exciting. From weird magic to random chill moments after fights, it somehow works. The story keeps adding more layers, even if it feels chaotic. I’m fully hooked now. Watch this till you want more episodes!
