👀 SPOILER-FREE SUMMARY

Dorohedoro wastes zero time throwing you into one of the most uniquely grimy worlds in modern anime. The premiere drops you into Hole — a decaying, rain-soaked city where sorcerers treat human residents like lab rats — and immediately establishes a tone that shouldn't work but absolutely does: visceral body horror smashed together with absurdist comedy. Caiman, a man cursed with a reptile head and no memory of who he was, teams up with Nikaido to hunt sorcerers in search of answers. MAPPA's animation leans into the grotesque with confidence, delivering action sequences that feel heavy and dangerous. The pacing is aggressive, front-loading worldbuilding through action rather than exposition. Expect blood, weirdness, gyoza, and a protagonist who bites people's heads to ask them questions. The vibe is completely its own thing.

📍 ARC CONTEXT

As the first of twelve episodes, this premiere is purely foundational — it introduces Caiman, Nikaido, the bleak world of Hole, and the sorcerer conflict that drives the entire season. There's no prior setup; the show trusts its audience to keep up as it establishes rules on the fly. Everything here — the central mystery of Caiman's identity, the power dynamics between Hole and the sorcerers — builds directly into escalating encounters and new antagonists in the episodes that follow.
