Lenalee gets hit with memories from her childhood, and the tone turns unsettling in that classic D.Gray-man way where emotional damage is always around the corner. It would have been a great episode but the pacing just threw me off.

A transition episode that shows the world doesn't stop just because they had a big battle. It’s a bit of a breather but has some heavy foreshadowing. Watch for Miranda Lotto trying to find her place in the new normal at HQ. Good for character continuity.

Its an episode about scars both physical and emotional and the relentless march of time. It sets the stage for Invasion of the Black order arc with grace and mystery.
