Personally didn't like the first part of the episode. Not a fan of the whole "HS girl crushing on a grown man twice her age" joke, but the later parts made up for it. Nice to see a good ol' phantom thief plot in a detective show. Also Fuu is very silly and cute.

Thought Mashiro accidentally falling for Nagumo because of a love potion was pure comedy.

Polished "Phantom Thief" graphics parody the genre. The standoff against the "Phantom Thief Riverfake" is the peak moment. You can see in this episode how Nagumo almost had a cool moment—almost.

Episode Context

Sitting at the midpoint of the 12-episode run, Episode 7 builds on the character dynamics established in Episode 6's girls' night and assistant-swap antics, deepening Mashiro's characterization while introducing the phantom thief Riverfake as a recurring comedic foil. This episode bridges the lighter character-focused material of the first half toward Episode 8's pivot into cyber-themed cases and further phantom thief developments, making it a transitional piece that expands the show's comedic toolkit.
