Personally didn't like the first part of the episode. Not a fan of the whole "HS girl crushing on a grown man twice her age" joke, but the later parts made up for it. Nice to see a good ol' phantom thief plot in a detective show. Also Fuu is very silly and cute.

Thought Mashiro accidentally falling for Nagumo because of a love potion was pure comedy.

Polished "Phantom Thief" graphics parody the genre. The standoff against the "Phantom Thief Riverfake" is the peak moment. You can see in this episode how Nagumo almost had a cool moment—almost.

Rumors about Nagumo’s past reputation start spreading again, catching Mashiro’s attention. Curious, she tries digging into his history while he awkwardly avoids the topic. It adds a bit more mystery to his character.

Detective Conan gets absolutely roasted. The "Phantom Thief" is a fraud, and Mashiro is basically a Level 99 raid boss.

After hours of terrible detective work the truth finally appears completely by accident which honestly feels perfectly on brand for this agency.

I love how the anime uses different genres and mixing it with pure comedy while referencing different anime. We now know that Asuka is that anime character that makes absurd inventions with absurd side effects. Fu's addition along with the timing is great to make the jokes fresh.

Never ask Azuha for advice unless you want some Doraemon like gadget that has some crazy side effect. The new character was cute and overall the episode is quite chaotic and fun. There is also a certain item that made an appearance which was used by a certain detective.

Haha what even is this episode 😂 That little brat was straight-up giving everyone mental damage. This show really proves anything can happen and it just keeps getting more ridiculous. I haven’t laughed this hard in a while.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the midpoint of the 12-episode run, Episode 7 builds on the character dynamics established in Episode 6's girls' night and assistant-swap antics, deepening Mashiro's characterization while introducing the phantom thief Riverfake as a recurring comedic foil. This episode bridges the lighter character-focused material of the first half toward Episode 8's pivot into cyber-themed cases and further phantom thief developments, making it a transitional piece that expands the show's comedic toolkit.
