Do you want an action-comedy anime set in a post-apocalyptic desert world, much like Trigun? How about some fan service and a banger of an opening song? If you said yes to all of those, then this anime is definitely worth checking out. For an anime released in 2004, Gonzo makes great use of creative animation techniques, mixing CGI and 3D panning with the usual 2D animation. Surprisingly, none of it feels disruptive, and everything blends together quite well. This episode also does a good job of introducing the world and the main character. Speaking of the MC, he reminds me a lot of Lupin, especially in the way he fights and his absolutely terrible luck with women.

Action and fun in the sand! This series takes off with a great pacing, hilarious moments and nice actions bits. The drawings, animation and soundtrack are amazing.

As episode one of twenty-four, this is pure world-building and character establishment, the series uses Kanta's first onscreen job to define the rules of the desert, his reputation, and his critical weakness in the form of Junko. Everything introduced here, from the harsh survival dynamics to the interpersonal power plays, forms the foundation for increasingly complex adventures and alliances across the full season.
