Koji using his demon powers to track that trail of blood through the city was a cool way to build tension

The monster looked like something straight out of a nightmare and the way it took out those victims was brutal

I found the scenes with the lonely woman to be the most unsettling part of this entire episode, especially when Koji realized what was actually happening.

Watching this makes you realize how much darker these old OVAs were compared to stuff now. The psychic guide is creepy and the way she reacts to the carnage really sets the mood for Koji to go all out. The animation during the transformation scenes holds up surprisingly well and it captures that specific grimy nineties horror vibe perfectly.

The psychic girl sensing all those deaths made the whole sequence feel way more eerie and dark

You can tell Maeda had a hand in this because that shadow monster looked absolutely terrifying and gross

I really dug the way that psychic lady was losing it while Koji hunted that beast down in the alley

That woman in the apartment had a rough time and the way the monster transformed was pretty sick

The gore in this one definitely reminds you of the old Overfiend stuff and that creature design had so many gross details

my skin was crawling during that scene with the lonely woman because you just knew something horrific was about to jump out

Koji really is a freak of nature, and seeing him lean into his demon side to catch that monster was pretty brutal.

seeing the way those supernatural bodies were left behind in that apartment made me realize this is way worse than the first episode

kyoko using her psychic powers to track the killer felt so much darker this time and the whole vibe is just getting way more intense

I actually felt sick when Koji found that one victim because the creator does not hold back on the gore at all

The way the monster stalks its prey in the shadows is terrifying, and the final sequence with the woman is pure Maeda brand madness.

Seeing the psychic struggle with those disturbing images of the victims was a heavy moment and it really sold the threat of the killer

Koji using his demon powers to track the scent of the victim was a cool touch and it showed just how dangerous he really is

That monster is a total nightmare and seeing it prey on that poor woman was definitely the most uncomfortable part of the episode for sure

I was not ready for how brutal Koji gets when he finally catches up to the killer and the animation on the transformation was actually pretty fluid

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 1, 'The Monster Rises,' which established Koji's world and central supernatural conflict, this middle episode serves as the series' pressure point — where stakes escalate and the narrative's darker threads converge. At the midpoint of a tight three-episode run, 'Superhuman Foment' carries the structural weight of both payoff and setup. It directly paves the way for the finale, 'The Mandala of Hell,' making it essential viewing for anyone intending to see the series through to its conclusion.
