the episode begins to show early signs of the narrative fatigue that extended arcs produce. the plot mechanics are moving but not at a pace that feels satisfying. the central dynamic is doing a lot of heavy lifting to keep things engaging.

i just want to coddle light at this point because he is so genuinely adorable to me even in this version of himself. the dynamic between him and L is so oddly intimate and completely beyond anything i expected this show to deliver lmaoooo now i get the hype on lawlight

GOD I NEED THE OLD LIGHT BACK. the banter and chemistry between these two is still absolutely peak television but the rest of the episode around it is starting to feel like dressing around the moments that actually matter.

Episode Context

Sitting at the midpoint of the Yotsuba arc, 'Makeshift' builds directly on the fallout from Matsuda's risky undercover infiltration in the previous episode, converting that gathered intelligence into a more structured offensive against the corporate conspirators. This episode serves as a critical bridge, escalating from passive surveillance toward the more confrontational approach that 'Performance' will deliver next. At episode 20 of 37, this is the series deepening its second major conflict before the narrative pivots toward its endgame.
