the way they animated free trying to possess her was so strange and definitely pushed the limits for an old school ova

i was not expecting it to turn into a literal tug of war for mako's mind and body

koji helping repress was actually kind of sweet even if the whole situation was absolutely bizarre and over the top

the 80s aesthetic and the surreal vibe with mako fighting her own desires made for a very strange watch

Watching this felt like a chore and the payoff for the symphony plot was not worth the wait at all

i felt so uncomfortable but also fascinated when free started taking over her body

That sudden lesbian seduction scene was the only memorable thing in twenty minutes of absolute boredom and confusion

The sequel was somehow even less interesting than the first part and the fantasy elements felt completely tacked on at the end

You should probably just skip this one and move to a different story in the collection since nothing meaningful actually happens to Mako

I went into this expecting some classic 80s weirdness but the Mako arc is just a slog to get through compared to something like Pop Chaser, the only thing that kept me watching was seeing the early Hirano art style and that bizarre yuri seduction scene that made zero sense for the plot and it feels like a generic C-tier OVA

It is pretty clear that Mako being in these situations is just boring now and this arc is definitely the weakest part of the whole anthology

That episode was such a snooze and I really struggled to stay awake through the whole Mako Symphony thing

I was actually caught off guard by the yuri seduction, because it felt like it came out of nowhere compared to the first part

My eyes kept glazing over during the dialogue and I only perked up when the random girl-on-girl scene started

You can really tell Hirano worked on this because the character designs have that specific 80s look even if the story is total trash

The way the conductor character kept pushing her was pretty uncomfortable to watch, but the animation during the climax was actually really impressive for an old OVA

I really appreciated the 80s aesthetic in this part because the hand-drawn details on the instruments and the stage lighting were way better than I expected, and Mako has such a weirdly charming personality for this kind of show, and her internal monologue during the finale made me laugh more than it probably should have since this was a very strange sequel

That ending had such a weird sci fi twist that I did not see coming and it totally changed how I look at the rest of this symphony

Mako getting so flustered during the concert rehearsal was really kind of funny and it made the whole fantasy theme feel way more ridiculous than part one

I felt like the art style change during the dream sequence was a great touch and that music actually worked so well with the visuals

EPISODE CONTEXT

Arriving at episode 12 of 38, this installment is the direct continuation of Mako's Part I entry, deepening conflicts and desires introduced there rather than starting fresh. Cream Lemon operates as an anthology series, so Mako's two-part arc represents one of the more extended character commitments in the lineup, giving her story unusual room to develop. This episode functions as a culmination point for her arc, setting the emotional groundwork before the series shifts its focus to other storylines in subsequent episodes.
