Using Kushida as a tool was such a big brain move tbfh. She's one of the very few characters I'm actually invested in

Ichinose's character is so well written although the reason behind her withdrawal was completely shallow to me. Her emotions were conveyed nicely and seeing Ayanokoji move behind the scenes is satisfying

Ichinose's circumstance in her backstory was very realistic. The VA did an amazing job with the dialogue execution. The reactions she earned and the events that followed the entire fiasco gave this arc a satisfying ending

The pacing and event structure here are well thought-out. Everything flowed smoothly, the animation and atmosphere worked well together. But the reveals at the end were the cherries on top!

Finally things are picking up! Solid writing for this episode. The backstory was heavy but the events that led to the main thing here were pure genius, considering all the parties that played into it.

I’m left intrigued by Sakayanagi’s motives in this episode, even though she’s a bit annoying, lol. It was a good episode overall, especially with Ichinose’s past being shown in an emotional and relatable way.

Okay, this is getting more interesting. I really like the pacing of this episode and how smooth the transitions between scenes feel. Everything is starting to fall into place, making the story more engaging.

That was such a good backstory for Honami. I felt like I was just observing rather than judging, lol. Still, it added depth to her character and showed the integrity and values of Class 1-B really well.

Kushida is back!! She is infinitely more interesting than the rest of the main cast (even though her backstory was pretty half-assed) and has a personality that I can get behind

I hate the fact that Ayanokoji is supposed to be the one to thank for Ichinose's "victory" over Sakayanagi. It not only diminishes Ichinose's personal issues and dilemma, but places way too much responsibility/gratitude on Ayanokoji going "yo tell the truth"

Yeahh Sakayanagi's tact was disappointing to say the least, like what did she expect would happen? It's not her place to police students, let alone students from different classes' past actions. She just comes off as someone who didn't think and acted egotistical over nothing.

An emotional episode that focuses on a character finally facing their past. The animation during the emotional flashbacks is very effective and helps build empathy. It is a great look at how truth can be used as both a weapon and a way to move forward in this school.

The intertwined actions of all the characters behind the mind game are all super great and it showed who's on top of the line. I think there will be more exciting battle to come!

A very strategy-focused episode. Not much action, but I actually enjoyed how calculated everything felt. It shows how each character approaches situations differently, which keeps things interesting.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned just past the season's first act, Episode 5 pivots from Episode 4's themes of merit and entitlement toward the darker territory of reputation warfare and personal vulnerability, escalating the interpersonal stakes heading into the season's midpoint. It serves as a critical setup episode, planting seeds of conflict—particularly around Ichinose—that feed directly into Episode 6's exploration of moral injury and retaliation. This stretch of Season 3 deepens the ethical complexity that defines the series, transitioning from external competitions to internal power struggles.
