This episode begins with wholesome interaction between Maki, Umi, and their classmates. On top of that, Maki and Umi are absolutely adorable, watching them being sweet with each other makes this episode so engaging and enjoyable.

This is perhaps my favorite episode so far. To be fair, Umi’s fears are very understandable, given her inferiority complex. What makes me love this episode so much is how Umi faced them. On another note, I used to think that Maki is a very mature person, but it seems like there are days when he acts out too.

Episode Context

Episode 7's mall date planted an emotional landmine when Maki unexpectedly encountered his estranged father, and Episode 8 detonates it, forcing a confrontation with familial neglect that strips away Maki's composed exterior. This marks the series' emotional turning point heading into the final four episodes, shifting the central relationship from playful friendship into something tested and deepened by shared vulnerability.
