EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off an episode that examined Umi's social standing and how others perceive her, Episode 4 moves the dynamic outward into a shared, public experience — the school cultural festival. At the one-third mark of a 12-episode season, this is the show establishing the foundation of Maki and Umi's bond before the second half presumably raises the emotional stakes. It sets up the conditions for their relationship to deepen with a stronger shared history behind it.
