shinobu is becoming my absolute favorite character in the entire series so far. even with the sudden changes she is still just so incredibly cute to watch on screen. i love how she carries herself despite all

subverting the traditional expectations of an imposing reigning champion is a clever writing tactic. giving a highly intimidating competitor a very mundane flaw humanizes her character and provides a sharp comedic contrast to the otherwise severe tension of the tournament.

the queen is so hilarious i love shinobu so much. You would expect the final boss to be super strict but she is just out here snacking constantly. That is so funny to me.

Episode Context

Coming off Chihaya's painful defeat in the qualifiers, this episode serves as a necessary emotional decompression before the season finale. The shift from active competition to observation allows the Mizusawa team to internalize what top-tier karuta looks like, recalibrating their ambitions heading into the final episode. As episode 24 of 25, it functions as the reflective bridge between the season's competitive climax and whatever resolution the finale delivers.
