The tone flips instantly, and it doesn't warn you. What starts like a normal outing turns into pure chaos. The silence after the shots hits harder than the action itself. Brutal, sudden, and exactly what the history needed in this point. One of my favorite episodes.

This episode was an absolute adrenaline rush! I was honestly left in shock by the time the credits rolled. It was just one jaw-dropping revelation after another, leaving almost no room to process the sheer scale of what was happening on screen.

The episode started with a proper character development from Denji. I love the sudden shift in atmosphere when they went out for food, they just introduce a new villain out of nowhere. I also like how they are not afraid to kill off characters. Make the story feel more real.

I am literally shaking. 😱 This episode changed everything. The transition from a quiet morning to absolute carnage was masterfully done. MAPPA didn't hold back on the shock factor. That ending... I need a moment to process. This is peak dark fantasy. 🌑😭

This episode feels like a slow burn that suddenly hits you like a jolt of lightning. The sudden shift in stakes is absolute peak storytelling. The way the calm is shattered is a total directorial flex. It leaves you stunned by the end. 11/10 shock factor.

Himeno is the star of this episode which features beautiful and intricate animated scenes in her living space. The budding friendship between Denji and Himeno is heartwarming, which makes the violent action scenes afterwards all the more jarring and heartbreaking.

My stomach seized up seeing the ghost devil methodically take Himeno apart, and honestly, the image of her clothes just drifting to the floor was way more chilling than any gore. I can't imagine Aki's fury right now; he’s definitely going to make those devils regret ever touching her.

I can’t believe they just killed Makima on a train like that and the way everyone started shooting at the same time felt like a horror movie. My heart dropped when Denji took a bullet to the head

they really just put a bullet through makima on the train and then started picking off everyone else in the city

Wait, what?! One second that dude was talking about his grandpa over ramen, and the next he just pulled a gun on everyone. My jaw literally dropped at how quickly things escalated there, it's so typical for this show to pull stuff like that.

denji really turned down a girl because of a lollipop from makima and it shows how much she has him under her thumb even when she is miles away on a train

Makima getting shot on that train just utterly floored me; I genuinely thought she was untouchable, like the big bad behind everything. Now I'm left wondering if she's even a devil at all, or if her true power is just way beyond what we've seen.

the world seemed totally fine for one second, and then the guns came out and the whole show turned into a total bloodbath in about two minutes flat

fox devil just dipped because the katana guy tasted gross and it was actually kind of funny until you realize everyone is getting slaughtered in the streets by random people with guns

i am actually staring at my screen in total silence because himeno just vanished and left nothing but her clothes behind and aki had to watch the whole thing happen while he was bleeding out

When the Curse Devil finally showed itself and just absolutely flattened Katana Man, my stomach dropped – I didn't expect it to be so grotesquely effective. The sickening squish and crack it made just drilled that image into my brain, making me feel genuinely uneasy.

Everything was so quiet at breakfast then suddenly every public safety member is getting hunted down and it feels like the Red Wedding all over again. The shift in tone from the morning was heavy

The way the Snake Devil just swallowed the Ghost Devil in one bite was brutal, especially after Himeno gave up her entire body for that contract. It felt so desperate and then it was just over

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 7's exploration of personal bonds and emotional vulnerability between the main cast, 'Gunfire' serves as the season's definitive turning point — the hinge where Chainsaw Man pivots from establishing its world and characters to detonating them. Positioned at Episode 8 of 12, it launches the final act of the season, catalyzing an escalation in conflict and danger that will drive the remaining four episodes toward their conclusion.
