The story moves forward at a steady pace, but they are introducing more Chaikas along the way. It's clearly setting the stage for the main event. I just hope they provide a proper explanation for Niva's screen time.

The dialogue between Toru and Chaika was beautiful. We get to see her become vulnerable about her identity and being stuck between a rock and a hard place- what is causing her to still continue collecting remains knowing what she knows now. Nice pace and build up through this episode.

The animation by studio BONES sets an extraordinary benchmark here. Large-scale magic, clashing melee weapons, and close-up fight sequences are seamlessly rendered with immense impact.
