It's a bit of an awkward start, but the episode gets much better halfway through. It's worth asking why the agency doesn't take protective measures with characters clearly being targeted by the villains. The action and suspense scenes are very well done, and Yosano looks great showcasing her skills. The episode does a good job of managing the tension and the emotional moments at the end. I'm still bothered by the over-exposition of the characters through their dialogue, but we have to accept that it will continue to happen.

Okay this episode goes HARD 😭🔥 Atsushi Nakajima and Akiko Yosano were insane here nonstop tension, chaos on the train, and so many emotional moments 💔🚆 Atsushi really had that hero energy ✨

Got to see my girl Yosano in action. I honestly forgot about this scene but rewatching it made me remember how badass it is. There’s new characters and they make this more interesting. The action scenes kept the tension and was really entertaining for me. And the animation was really good. There was an unexpected and cliffhanger on the end.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned at the two-thirds mark of Season 1, Episode 8 escalates directly from the Port Mafia tensions established in Episode 7, moving the conflict from organizational posturing to immediate, life-threatening confrontation for the Agency's members. The introduction of new Mafia-affiliated characters deepens the antagonist faction and raises personal stakes for Atsushi heading into the season's final act. This episode serves as a pivotal bridge between the show's early character establishment and the intensified conflicts that will define the closing stretch.
