Synopsis
With no job, no prospects, and apparently no better options, Junpei Koganei somehow finds his job search landing him at an adult video studio. The only female staff member, Masako, talks him into signing on as a male actor, and just like that, his career takes a very unexpected turn. That's the setup for this 3-episode OVA from 1989, and it leans hard into the comedy of the situation rather than playing it sleazy. The people working at this studio feel like actual characters — they have loyalties, messy relationships, and real friction between them. The adult film industry backdrop is more of a lens for exploring how people connect and clash in a weird, close-knit workplace than anything else. The ecchi content is there, but the tone stays mostly light and character-driven. It's a product of its era, so adjust your expectations for late-80s animation and storytelling pacing. If you watched Junk Boy and liked the mix of comedy and awkward workplace romance, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Futari Gurashi who enjoy adult-cast slice-of-life with some romantic tension might also find it worth a look. It's a short, niche watch — three episodes set in a corner of showbiz that anime rarely touches — and it works precisely because it treats its characters as more than just props for the premise.
