The Weight of Summer
Hitori Gotoh's guitar performance, bathed in spotlight, suggests a confidence rarely seen in her. But this brief, triumphant vision quickly dissolves into the reality of her summer. Days blur into weeks, marked only by the calendar, as Hitori navigates a self-imposed isolation. Her room becomes a metaphorical black hole, where even time itself slows under the weight of her profound inertia. This familiar cycle of dread and inaction forms the episode's melancholic core.
Nobody Played With Bocchi-chan
The other Kessoku Band members notice Hitori's descent into a purple miasma of gloom. They find her creating sand mounds for cicada burials, a truly grim pastime. A flashback reveals Hitori's lie about busy family plans, a pathetic attempt to mask her loneliness. Nijika Ijichi, Ryo Yamada, and Ikuyo Kita are struck by a wave of collective guilt, realizing the brutal truth: nobody had invited Hitori out all summer. This understanding galvanizes them into action.
The Kidnapping to Enoshima
With newfound resolve, Kita seizes Hitori, announcing an impromptu trip to Enoshima. Hitori's soul literally attempts to escape her body, overwhelmed by the sudden social pressure. Despite Hitori's catatonic state, the other girls enthusiastically drag her along, determined to create a "normal" summer memory. Even as Hitori envisions her guitars having a "Tropical Love" hallucination, she remains a passenger, barely conscious, in her own forced adventure.
Of Exploding Girls and Pressed Octopi
They arrive at Katase-Enoshima Station, where Hitori is momentarily captivated by the ocean's expanse. Her peace shatters when energetic scouts trigger her social anxiety so violently she explodes into a cloud of pink dust. Later, while eating 'Tako-sen,' Hitori finds a bizarre kinship with the "pressed" octopus, seeing herself reflected in its flattened form. This strange connection, however, allows her a genuine smile, her first real moment of joy, culminating in tearful recognition of her true friends.
The Ascent to Serenity
The formidable stone staircase to the Enoshima Shrine looms, a physical manifestation of Hitori's internal struggles. Kita, radiating relentless optimism, bounds up the steps, while Hitori is quickly reduced to a crawling zombie. The relief is palpable when they discover the "Enoshima Escar," a series of outdoor escalators. After a brief comedic interlude involving Ryo's attempt to barter a bass for tickets, they ascend in comfort, momentarily forgetting Ryo's extensive debt.
A View From the Top, a Puddle of Disgust
At the summit, a cool breeze and stunning ocean views offer a brief reprieve. Even the cynical Ryo and Hitori feel a sense of calm. This fragile peace, however, is swiftly broken by the sight of an overly affectionate couple in matching "Tropical Love" shirts. The synchronized disgust of Hitori, Nijika, and Ryo is a stark reminder of their shared, anti-social sensibilities. From the Enoshima Sea Candle, Ryo launches into a pseudo-philosophical monologue, leaving the others in varying states of confusion.
The Sky Attack and Broken Spirit
Kita's desire for "one more major event" is met with chaotic swiftness as a swarm of hawks descends. Ryo loses her ice cream with comedic precision, but Hitori bears the brunt of the attack, tossed and pecked into a "dust cloud of bird wings." The aftermath leaves Hitori face-down in a crater, her spirit utterly broken. This violent, natural intervention forces an end to their adventuring, driving them towards the shrine for final prayers.
Unspoken Wishes and New Horizons
At the shrine, Kita and Nijika pray earnestly for the band's future, while Hitori's intense muttering reveals a selfish wish to reset summer or gain instant fame. Her subsequent lie about her wish highlights her lingering insecurities. On the train ride home, a peaceful sunset brings a quiet contentment. Kita's enthusiastic plans for future outings overwhelm Hitori, yet she manages a small, genuine smile, acknowledging a truly fun day. She finds a rare optimism, seeing this memory as a lifeline for the upcoming school semester.
The Unchanged Self, The Unfolding Future
The episode concludes with Hitori back under her futon on the first day of school, feigning illness to avoid the world. This familiar scene cleverly reminds us that a single day of connection, however profound, does not erase her fundamental nature. Meanwhile, Kita discovers a school festival poster seeking bands for the main stage. Her expression shifts, hinting at the next great challenge for Kessoku Band, and a future that Hitori, despite herself, is now a part of.
EPISODE REVIEWS

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When that swarm of hawks just descended on Bocchi, I literally snorted, like, how does this stuff *always* happen to her? Her just giving up and lying in the dirt afterwards was such a perfect Bocchi move, and it honestly made me feel a little bit of secondhand embarrassment for her, even while I was laughing.
