QUICK TAKES

Bocchi’s anxiety at its peak in chaotic Shinjuku, balancing comedy with real stress. Her disappearance before the festival builds strong tension, while Kikuri’s scene adds depth to her coping struggles. The band’s support gives a warm, hopeful finish.

Shinjuku looked like a nightmare through Bocchi’s eyes and you can tell the city just drains her energy. Watching her hide in the trash can at the club while everyone else talks about the festival is hilarious

Ending on Bocchi going missing right as the festival starts is such a stressful way to finish the episode. You just know she is probably hiding in some crawl space or something because of the pressure

I was really struck by Kikuri telling Bocchi she used to be just like her back in high school. It makes her drinking habit feel a lot more tragic than just a gag, especially since she uses it to keep her stage fright at bay. Seeing the band bond at the diner afterwards, made me really happy for Bocchi getting such good friends and it shows how much they care about her

Kita apologizing at the end was so sweet, even though she totally did it on purpose to help her friend out. Watching everyone practice during that montage shows how much they have grown as a group lately

You gotta feel for Kita here because she knew Bocchi really wanted to play and just needed that shove to actually do it. It was risky but she really understands her friend better than anyone else does

Ryo trying to get the others to pay for her food while acting like a snobby music critic is classic. You can tell she actually cares about the festival even if she acts too cool for everything

Putting Bocchi in a coffin is the most relatable thing this show has ever done. You can really feel her soul leaving her body when Kita says she already turned in the festival paper

Kikuri absolutely owned that stage, she just transforms into this powerhouse the second she touches her bass, and I was completely blown away. But then the reveal that her drinking stems from the *exact same* paralyzing stage fright Bocchi faces? That really threw me for a loop, making me worry about Bocchi's own future.

Of course the episode ends with her going missing right when the festival starts and the stress of trying to find her is enough to make anyone feel anxious too

Kita really did that and turned in the paper from the trash can because she knew Bocchi actually wanted it. That kind of friend is the only reason she is even making progress

Learning that Kikuri was actually a loner in high school was a shock for me because it shows that even the most confident people on stage had to start somewhere

The way the animation went totally psychedelic during the SICK HACK set was incredible and it really showed how much a live show can change the atmosphere of a room

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the high of a major band performance in Episode 9, Episode 10 deliberately shifts gears to Bocchi's personal headspace as a new challenge — the school culture festival — looms ahead. This is the calm before the storm in a 12-episode season, serving as the emotional setup for what will be the band's climactic final arc across Episodes 11 and 12.
