The way they animated that audition was insane and those cool camera angles made the performance feel so real and seeing Bocchi finally lock in for the solo was the coolest part of the whole episode

I actually lost it when Hitori climbed into the trash bin and called herself garbage because that is exactly how my brain works when I mess up and the animation for her melting was so cursed

Seika is such an interesting character because she seems so scary at first, but you can tell she actually wants them to be good. That audition song was stuck in my head immediately after they finished playing and the visuals during the solo were incredible. I felt so bad for Hitori at the end when she found out about the ticket quota though

Ryo trying to make them look like cool band guys in those black suits was the funniest thing ever and then Bocchi immediately has a mental breakdown about becoming a womanizer

Seika telling Bocchi she is watching her was supposed to be a compliment but of course Hitori thinks she is being hunted and that ending face she made was pure nightmare fuel

Kita having bleeding fingers from practicing so much really hit me, it shows how much she actually cares about not being the weak link in the band

Seika telling Bocchi she is watching her felt like such a huge win, especially since it shows she actually recognizes the talent hidden under all that social anxiety

The ending where the joy of passing is instantly crushed by the reality of selling tickets is exactly what being in a small band feels like

It made me happy that the title was an AKG reference and hearing their first original song finally come together during the audition was worth the wait

Bocchi's face when she finally got her first paycheck had me smiling with her, but then watching her immediately hand it over for live house fees made me physically wince. I felt so bad, like she didn't even get to properly hold onto the idea of having earned something, just a quick 'poof' and it was gone. What a harsh reality check for our little rock star!

Those fluid camera angles during the live performance were incredible and you can really see the work they put into the instrument movements during that solo

I actually felt that pain when they showed Kita with her fingers bleeding and it just proves how much she wants to keep up with the others

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episodes 1-4 established the band's formation, Bocchi's painful social anxiety, and their scrappy first performance—this fifth episode raises the bar by putting a formal audition in front of them, transitioning from "can this band even exist?" to "can this band compete?" It serves as a critical midseason pivot, setting the stage for the back half's challenges around promotion, audience-building, and Bocchi's continued growth as both a musician and a person.
