Shiro's Echo
The episode opens not with action, but with a searing flashback, Rin Okumura's blue flames engulfing him as Shiro Fujimoto lies motionless. Shiro's pained gasps and desperate pleas for Rin to use the Kurikara against the Impure King are haunting. He speaks of compassion, a quality he saw in Rin, echoing his words to a distraught Rin years later. Rin, from his prison, remembers how his "old man" saved him, expressing a fierce desire to fight if it means being useful.
The Barred Confession
Trapped behind wooden bars, Rin listens as Yukio reads a cryptic letter, his face etched with worry. Shura Kirigakure, ever the provocateur, goads Rin, asking what he wants to do. When Rin passionately declares his desire to save his father and help, Yukio's anger flares, reminding Rin of his volatile powers. Rin, however, remains resolute, stating his wish to fight is his own decision, not a burden.
The Sword's Refusal
Shura, ignoring Yukio's frantic protests, draws the glowing Kurikara, challenging Rin to pull it from its sheath. Despite his resolve, Rin strains, gritting his teeth, but the sword remains stubbornly fixed. He screams in frustration, unable to comprehend his failure, while Yukio and Shura watch. Shura then asks a piercing question, her words a hammer blow to Rin's confidence, "Are you scared?"
Mephisto's Judgment
A puff of pink smoke announces Mephisto Pheles's dramatic entrance, his theatricality a stark contrast to the heavy mood. He gleefully introduces his "Steel House of the Prison," a menacing mechanical cage. With a horrifying lurch, a metal hand snatches Rin, pulling him into the contraption as he screams for help. Mephisto's chilling declaration that the Gregorian Council has decided Rin's execution leaves Shura and Yukio aghast.
The Impure King's Rise
Mephisto nonchalantly confirms the execution order, dismissing Shura's anger with feigned allergies to "impure things." He explains that once the Impure King fully matures, Kyoto will become a city of death. After offering a stack of camouflage cloaks with a sly wink, Mephisto disappears in another puff of smoke, leaving Shura and Yukio with an impossible choice and a growing dread as the Impure King's ominous cloud darkens the night sky.
Mamushi's Remorse
The Kyoto Exorcists mobilize, an urgent summons echoing through the inn. A bloodied and bruised Mamushi Hojo returns, supported by Juzo Shima, her tearful confession a shock to Ryuji Suguro and the others. She admits to betraying them, revealing her role in reviving the Impure King with Todo Saburota. Juzo, ever the stoic leader, takes command, ordering preparations for battle and a mass vaccination.
Friends Against the Cage
Left behind, Suguro, Konekomaru, Renzo, Shiemi, and Izumo don their camouflage cloaks, their faces etched with concern for Rin. They confront Mephisto's talking cage, which mocks their attempts to breach its formidable defenses. Shiemi's despair turns to fierce resolve; clutching her chest, she declares she will not forgive herself if Rin dies. She runs to the cage, determined to open it, her friends following closely behind.
Rin's Lowest Point
Inside the cage, Rin lies amidst rubble, a picture of utter defeat. He screams that he cannot die in such a place, then succumbs to self-pity, questioning his existence. Tears stream down his face as he wonders why he was saved, why he fights. He begs his father, Shiro, for answers, consumed by despair and the crushing weight of his demonic identity.
Shiemi's Steadfast Heart
A beacon of light cuts through Rin's despair as Shiemi runs to him, pulling him into a comforting hug. Rin, disbelieving, asks if she isn't afraid of him, his blue flames beginning to flicker. Shiemi looks into his tear-filled eyes, gently wiping away his tears, and softly replies, "I'm not afraid. You are not scary, Rin." Her steadfast reassurance pulls him from the brink, her hand extended in unwavering support.
A United Front
His tears still wet, Rin looks at Shiemi with gratitude, a newfound resolve hardening his features. His friends gather around him, their faces a mixture of concern and unwavering support. With a fierce cry, Rin pulls the Kurikara from its sheath, blue flames erupting with a controlled power he had doubted he possessed. Standing tall among them, Rin and his united friends prepare to face the Impure King, a formidable and determined front.
EPISODE REVIEWS

With good visuals, soundtrack and effects, the episode highlighted Rin's relationship with his friends in preparation for the upcoming fight.

At this point of the story, Rin's setback is like giving the audiences a see-saw feeling as every growth Rin had was suddenly pushed back by another conflict even though logically, it's reasonable considering he hasn't touched the Koma Sword since his reveal as Satan's Son. However, since Rin has always been expressing bravado, to see him being vulnerable is refreshing.
