seeing mayuri finally figure out why the bounts want a quincy was actually cool and it made their plan make way more sense

i was so gutted watching uryu fail to summon his bow and just collapse because he is still clearly broken after losing yoshino

My heart broke for Ishida when he collapsed after trying so hard to get his bow back

Watching these Bount fights feels like it takes years and getting back to the actual story is all that matters now

I really like Noba and his portal stuff because seeing him work with Rangiku to set up Chad for that final hit was the highlight of this filler for me, but Mayuri creepily sending Nemu after Ishida when he is already at his lowest point just made me feel terrible for him, after that training flashback with his grandfather

The old man summoning Byakuya definitely raises the stakes for the rest of this mission

Ikkaku getting taken out by an invisible guy in Soul Society is a pretty unexpected way to start a new mystery

Mayuri and Nemu are about to make things way worse for Uryu and they already figured out he is the key for the Bounts

The fight against Sawatari was decent enough but the pacing felt dragged out and the visuals were a bit rough during the final moves

Poor Ikkaku getting knocked out by an invisible ghost guy in the middle of Soul Society was a weird way to end things

Noba is my favorite new character from this arc and the way he worked with Rangiku and Chad to stop Baura showed how cool his dimension powers are

Mayuri is always creeping me out, but his research into the Bounts actually moved the plot forward for once

It broke my heart to see Ishida break down in tears after failing to summon his bow because he just looks so lost without his powers

This episode moved so slowly and spent way too much time on characters standing around talking about things we already knew

Things feel way more serious now that Yamamoto is actually calling for Byakuya and sending the Gotei 13 into action

The animation took a serious step down from last week and having the villain just run away after all that buildup felt pretty cheap

That moment when Chad showed some real emotion while saving Ururu really stuck with me because he finally feels like a real person

Hearing about the intruder alert and seeing the different squads take up defensive positions across the Seireitei helped the world feel a bit more grounded and reactive to the current threat

The way that intruder just zipped past Ikkaku was definitely something because Ikkaku looked absolutely livid and it was basically the only moment of actual movement in the whole twenty minutes

Having Byakuya show up for that meeting, and acting all stoic as usual, was the highlight and he barely had to do anything to make the scene feel important which is just classic Kuchiki behavior

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 86's encounter between Rangiku and a mysterious invisible enemy, Episode 87 pivots to the Soul Society's broader mobilization, functioning as a transitional filler bridge. It doesn't advance the manga-canon storyline but expands the scope of the current threat by showing institutional gears turning. The groundwork laid here feeds into the escalating confrontations of the episodes that follow.
