I found the explanation about how these hollows are ripping off their masks and getting soul reaper powers so interesting because Aizen is clearly planning something big

Episode Context

Episode 115 sits in the early stretch of the Arrancar saga, directly following Rukia and the Soul Reapers' return to the World of the Living to reinforce Ichigo after his bruising initial encounters with Arrancar-level enemies. It serves as a crucial emotional reset for Ichigo, grounding his resolve before the conflict intensifies. The next phase pivots toward the Arrancars themselves and the escalating power struggle that will define much of the arc going forward.
