Vanessa telling the two new witches to use their magic for happiness and protection was a great way to show how much she has changed since joining the Black Bulls

That part where the Witch Queen knew about the Spade threat was a nice touch for an anime original episode and it actually makes the world feel more connected and less like filler

vanessa heading back to the witches forest was actually such a good move because she finally gets the focus she deserves without just being the drunk sister archetype in the background

Even though this is anime original, it feels important because the Black Bulls really need to get stronger before they head into the Spade Kingdom territory.

Following up the Zora episode with this Vanessa focus was a smart move for this training arc and it really makes the preparations for the Spade Kingdom feel more grounded

The contrast between Vanessa and those two new witches shows how much the Black Bulls changed her for the better and she is a real mentor now

Seeing Vanessa realize her magic exists to make people happy instead of just for battle really resonated with me. It was a sweet moment, that felt right for her journey.

It was cool to see Dominante again and have her be part of the witch stuff but the training scenes felt a bit slow compared to the actual lore drops

I really enjoyed seeing Vanessa act like a big sister to Samantha and Elvira because it shows how much she has grown since leaving that cage

Vanessa going back to the forest and standing her ground against the queen was great to watch and she looks so much more determined to get stronger for the squad and it makes me proud

I honestly wasn't sure about a filler episode focusing on the Witches' Forest again, but I actually loved watching Vanessa help Samantha and Elvira find their confidence. It makes so much sense for her to be a mentor, since the Black Bulls took her in when she was lost, and now she is doing the same for her own people.

I have always been a huge Vanessa fan so getting a full episode of her training and overcoming her internal doubts made me so happy especially because she is usually just drinking in the background

The Witch Queen being more of a mentor and challenging Vanessa instead of just acting like a villain again is a great change for her character after the forest arc and it feels very natural now

Using those combined illusion spells to stop the forest beasts was a smart move by Vanessa because it showed she is learning how to be a leader and not just a solo fighter

Vanessa taking center stage for once felt special to me, because she usually just chills in the background with her wine. Her wanting to learn ancient magic to protect everyone from the Spade Kingdom hit me hard and it was cool how the Witch Queen actually acknowledged her growth. This training arc is doing a great job fleshing out the side characters.

Watching the barrier get restored after those monsters broke through really showed you how far Vanessa has come as a leader for her squad

The Witch Queen is still terrifying but her tasking Vanessa with training others felt like a weird way to spend time and it would be better to get back to the main action soon

Hearing Vanessa call herself a weak magic knight was a bit sad but her resolve to fix the forest defenses proves she is way tougher than she thinks and her thread usage was smart

Samantha and Elvira are such a mess and seeing Vanessa have to babysit them while prepping for war was pretty funny and it shows how much she has actually grown since leaving home

Those new witches Samantha and Elvira are adorable and seeing them succeed with their weird magic made the whole episode worth it

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 138's focus on Zora and his father's legacy, the series continues a deliberate pattern of character-building episodes, cycling through Black Bulls members as they individually prepare for what's ahead. Vanessa's personal power-up arc feeds directly into the larger narrative of the squad strengthening itself against the escalating Spade Kingdom threat. At episode 139 of 170, this stretch of development episodes is laying critical groundwork for the final major conflicts of the series.
