Berserk of Gluttony
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Meet Fate Graphite, a gatekeeper who gets treated like garbage. In this world, you're born with a skill that basically determines your whole life, and Fate drew the short straw: his skill is called 'Gluttony,' and all it seems to do is make him constantly, painfully hungry. The holy knights who are supposed to protect people? They just use him as a punching bag. Then one day he kills a fleeing thief in self-defense, and Gluttony actually activates. Turns out the skill absorbs the stats and abilities of anything he kills. Suddenly the guy at the bottom of the food chain has a way to climb. He picks up a sentient talking sword named Greed, meets Roxy Hart, one of the few holy knights who actually has a conscience, and starts carving out a path no one thought someone like him could walk. The power system here is genuinely interesting because every fight is also a level-up, and there's a real tension around whether Gluttony will become more curse than gift as it grows. It's a 12-episode TV series from 2023 by studio A.C.G.T., based on a light novel. If you liked The Rising of the Shield Hero's underdog-fights-back energy or the power-absorption escalation in Arifureta, this scratches a similar itch. It's not reinventing the genre, but the progression from powerless to dangerous is handled well enough to keep you watching through the whole run.

The darker atmosphere returns in full force, and every scene feels charged with purpose.
The family interactions were easily the highlight here, and also this episode had a warm and playful energy that balanced out the darker elements of the story.
The interactions felt more relaxed, and it was nice getting to see a different side of the cast without losing the overall charm of the series.
The tavern conversations and rumors made everything feel more believable.
The first episode grabbed me right away with its harsh fantasy world and strong underdog setup, that i do love.
The animation here was really good, the fight scenes were fast and clear. I also like the new weapon form, it was very satisfying to see him obtain it. The writing also ties up some plots left behind and it feels earned rather than forced. I really enjoyed watching this, some moments are genuinely moving. The music also was the best, it really handled the tension, the atmosphere, and the emotional highs and lows here.
The animation here was very good, the fight scenes were fluid and the movements feels weighty. The pacing was tight, every scenes was perfect and wasted no time. The writing also feels like it is building for something big. My emotions were so high in the last part. It was so intense, and the music was perfectly timed.
The outdoor action scenes here look good and the cave scene here feel claustrophobic. The writing between our two MC was natural and wasn't forced. The emotional highs were well placed here. The music also shifts well between the action scenes and the quieter moments in the cave.
I really don't like the animation in this episode, several scenes here look like still images rather than animated scenes, and sometimes only their mouths are moving. The writing here is also dialogue heavy but the new character introduced here was interesting. The pacing was mid, the conversations go on too long and the action scenes felt bland.
This episode was really emotionally heavy. The visuals in the fight scene were intense, more so the design of the creature was unsettling and the animation during the battle was smooth. The writing was well thought out here, it handled a difficult subject by giving it some space. The music during the fight and the scenes were perfect, the music here really gave more weight to my emotions.
I really like the writing and the setting in this episode. The castle here is well designed, even the atmosphere here suits the episode perfectly. The action inside the castle feels rather restrained than flashy, which is good because the emotional impact felt more real. I like the dialogue here, it feels natural and the emotional impact is high in some scenes which had me glued to the screen. I also really like the music inside the castle, it really complements each scene.
I like the desert setting in this episode, it feels like a brand new atmosphere after those dark environments. The writing was well done, the information was not dumped in a single scene, instead it was narrated across multiple scenes. The pacing itself is not even dragging and the action is quick and gets to the point. The music also fits the desert setting but it wasn't really memorable. The second was a bit heavy on the dialogue but it was still entertaining.
I like the pacing in this episode. The scene with Hado was great, I felt really satisfied with the scene. The episode doesn't linger on it either, which is great pacing wise. I also appreciate how unique Greed is, I am genuinely rooting for his growth.
The problems are starting to catch up with Fate here. The pacing here slows down on the vineyard scene but the rest of the scenes are easy to understand. Seeing Fate be put up onto a responsibility was sad, because it feels like a plead out of desperation. The animation here was okay, the hunting scenes were good and smooth, and the design of the enemy feels like they are a threat.
This feels like a calmer episode as we see the story build the relationship between Fate and Roxy. Each character's moments here are interesting and easy to watch. It was also funny seeing them pretend as a couple, one of the best moments in this episode imo! I also like how Fate is getting creative with his skills, and I'm proud he is using it responsibly.
I really like how this episode plays out Fate's responsibility, it really is "with great power, comes great responsibility". I like the simple red eye visual for Fate, it shows things are getting dangerous for him. Greed's new form was also great! I suddenly remembered the mmorpg games I used to play back then. I also like how the music fits each mood shift perfectly.
This was a strong first episode, it gives off a dark atmosphere. I like Greed's introduction here, he has a beautiful design and his first impressions made me like his character writing. The class structure in this world is easy to understand and the story doesn't over explain it. The OST here is atmospheric and adds weight to the more quieter scenes. The pacing is slightly focused on the start but it was okay.
Seeing Fate push his limits left me speechless because his growth is just incredible. It was the perfect emotional finish.
I loved every single second of it.
