Miwa dragging Ryu bar hopping was adorable. The flashback moments were beautifully animated. Learning about Ryu's early days added so much to his character. The lighting in the old bar was gorgeous. This show has so much heart.

The tone of this episode is more solemn and serious, fitting then it end with a shocking revelation. It's amazing to see a caipirinha being prepared in the series.

Episode Context

Positioned at episode 9 of 12, 'North Wind' serves as a crucial character pivot following the competitive tension of Episode 8's 'A Challenge,' shifting inward to explore the formative relationships behind Ryuu's bartending philosophy. This deep dive into his past with mentor Kitakata enriches the emotional foundation the series needs heading into its final stretch. It directly sets up Episode 10, 'A Thorn in the Heart,' by layering vulnerability and unresolved history that will fuel the remaining character development.
