EPISODE CONTEXT
With Senjougahara's crab arc resolved in episodes one and two, episode three opens the Mayoi Snail arc — the second of Bakemonogatari's multi-part character studies. This installment establishes the new dynamic between Araragi, Senjougahara, and the newly introduced Hachikuji, setting up the thematic exploration of loss and misdirection that will define the next stretch of the season. It marks the series' transition from its introductory hook into the episodic oddity-of-the-week structure that carries the remaining arcs.
